What method do you use?
Scott's Services has the knowledge and equipment to utilize many methods to see you your carpet/textile needs. Our preferred method is hot water extraction as we feel this removes the most contaminants and leaves the least amount of cleaning agent behind. Please see Our Cleaning Method for more details on our 4/5 step process.
How long will it take my carpet to dry?
The answer to this depends on many factors; ie. humidity, temperature, air movement in the house, how heavily soiled the carpet was (how much we had to rinse). We aim for a 4-6 hour dry time, but as already stated there are many factors to consider. We do not recommend sitting items that might stain the carpet or to vacumme the carpet for the first 24 hours after cleaning.
How much do you charge?
Pricing is by the square foot (not by the room). Upon arrival your rooms will be measured and an invoice presented to you BEFORE the job is started, there will be no hidden, extra, added on after the job is done, fees.. No surprises! Please call for more details (231) 922-8979.
How often should I have my carpet cleaned?
Studies by the Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI), the world’s largest mill, the professional cleaning industry, and the Environmental Protection Agency, conclude that residential carpet should be cleaned at least every 12 to 18 months. Periodic cleaning actually extends the life of carpeting and most important of all provides a healthier living environment.
Will my carpet get dirtier faster once I have it cleaned?
The most common reason that carpet re-soils is from residue left after the cleaning process. This is especially true of do-it-yourself cleaning methods, untrained operators, and the use of ineffective equipment. This is why we prefer hot water extraction above other methods, leaving no detectable residue so the carpet stays cleaner longer.
What should I do if I spill something on the carpet?
First, please DON’T apply those over-the-counter “miracle spotters” on it! Unfortunately, carpet can be ruined by improper application of these products. Different kinds of soils require different types of treatments. First, gently scrape up if it’s solid or blot up with a white cotton towel if it’s liquid. Next, call us for spotting suggestions.
